Junior League

It's been three weeks since I last bowled in my league.  And yes!  I am starting to miss my Sunday night activity. Well....its only another three weeks or so before the league resumes back to play again. I have heard through the grapevine there was a social outing on last weekend.  I wanted to go but I wasn't really informed on the full details on where to meet up at the first venue.  Besides I had something else held on the same day. 

As far as I know all Junior leagues should be finished by now.  My 15 yo had her break up and prize presentation for her Saturday morning league on the weekend.  It seems she done better then I did which is no surprise really.  Her team (of three players) came 1st/10 teams.  Also her team came 1st for high game scratch and high series with HCP. And they came 2nd for high game with HCP which is odd really as most adult leagues don't allow prizes for both scratch and HCP of the same game. Oh well! It doesn't matter now as she isn't planning on return to the same league in 2014.  For individual placing she came 1st for high game scratch (244) and high pinfall. 

Normally new season for Junior leagues resumes back when school starts but because she is thinking of joining a new adult league at the same centre which she seems to have no clue on when the returning date will be.  I am guessing it will be around mid-late January like most adult leagues are at most centres.  I just inform her she got to learn to get all the information required when you start something new.  No one will tell you anything afterwards because they just assume you knew beforehand,  That is one thing I noticed in this society, lack of communication!  But I won't go there as it isn't related to this blog posting.

If you have any break up parties for sport, enjoy your event and well done in your achievements (if you got any rewards). And remember...... don't drink and drive!!  Have a responsible person to drive you home or stay the night at a motel near the event.

Prize Presentaion

Our end of the year break up party and prize presentation was held on Saturday night at a sports club.  From 7pm to 11pm it was a good night in the function room.  We had a two course dinner, prize presentation and two guys, Robbie and Tony from Wickety Wak as our entertainment for the night. Apparently Robbie and Tony are friends with a couple of league bowlers which explains why they were at this venue at a friend's rate.

I wasn't really impress with dinner this time.  Some other bowlers more said the same thing:  the meat was uncooked and tough to eat.  I went more for the chicken because it was the only meat that looked more respectful to consume.  Salad was the only choice to eat with the meat!!  It would of been nice to see more vegetables this time. For dessert we had only two choices:  a mini pavlova with barely no fruit on it or a slice of mud cake.

But the highlight of all was the prize presentation. Alot of newcomers seem to had the luck with the prizes this year.  As I said in previous post, my team did come 7th overall.  Also we came 1st for high game with handicap which I have no clue when that was done during the year.  I received an extra envelope for having the high game scratch which I do know when that happened. It was the only 200 game I bowled all season.

Now its time for a six week break.  Didn't really affected me last night but I think it will next week as I have got used to my Sunday night routine.

League ending

After 45 weeks, my league on Sunday night has came to an end. The last three games was played last night. Inspite my unreliable team member (who now I am thankful she isn't returning next year) I managed to bowl all my three games over average and to win all the points on the last night but I do know for the fact we won't be in the top four as we have lost alot of points in the last three months or so. There were fourteen teams of two players in each team this year and we should be at least in the top 7 for team placement.

The break up party and prize presentation will be held on this Saturday night at a sports club in Brisbane.  I can't wait for the night to happen as I feel confident I should be able to win more then just team placement. I will share the details of prize presentation after the weekend.

The league will have a break for six weeks and we will resume back to play in mid January.  As far as I know there are at least four people are not returning to play in 2014. It will be sad to see them go but I am sure there will be new teams forming.  We had four new people joining our league this year and far as I know they plan on returning in 2014. I guess I will find out more at the party.

The Perfect Game

Yeah!  I finally retumed back to bowling league last night after my six week break from surgery in August. It was good to be back to play. It was a good night to win all the points.

Last Tuesday my 15 yo has set a new record at Logan Lanes.  She sub play for a league on Tuesday night and guess what she rolled?  She bowled the perfect game of a 300.  For non bowlers it means she bowled 12 strikes in a row.  Apparently she's the first female junior to bowl the perfect game.  She will be given a plaque for her effort but I don't think she will be entitled to big money prize as she isn't a regular player for that league. I told afew bowlers in my league last night and most of them didn't really believe me!!

Over the weekend she was involved in a big tournament played in Brisbane.  There were ten centres completing in a junior tournament from Brisbane, Logan, Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Bundaberg.  It was a five man team of both boys and girls to bowl 18 games over two days.  Check in was 7am and they had long days.   I guess all families are thankful today is a public holiday because everyone involved would need their rest.  Some players had a long way to travel so today they would be on the road to return home to their destination.

Overall the centre my daughter represented came 6th overall which isnt too bad. I heard it was one of the Brisbane teams won the competition overall. Individually her games ranged from 197 to 107. Possibly she crashed back down to Earth after her 300 game done four days before at a different centre.

Footy Fever

Only have one week to go and then I can resume back to play league on Sunday night.  I still attend to bowling to watch my sub bowled.  The first week was good but since then the player has gone downhill.

While I haven't played for the past five weeks, it was an advantage for me to chat with other players.  During this time I found out afew different things I normally don't hear from other members.  On Sunday night the topic about next year season was brought up.  It seems two teams aren't returning and a couple of teams will lose their team player.  My team mate won't return either but I have already found a new team mate as she will lose her team player too.

It's now the footy final season this month.  This weekend is the Grand Final for AFL. I don't know who's playing as I don't follow AFL.  I'm more into NRL which they have three rounds of the semi finals before the Grand Final to be played next weekend.  About a month ago, the footy show predicted RABBITOHS and the ROOSTERS will be in the Grand Final. I'm not sure but I feel Newcastle KNIGHTS might be one of the teams in the Grand Final as they have playing so well lately.

For the past two years I had a friendly play of footy tipping but most weeks I don't get many right. So I am not expecting to do any better on Grand Final day. To all who play footy tips, gamble wisely! 

And if you plan on drinking at any of the Grand Final matches, remember be smart not to drink and drive!! 

League updates

Only have another 12 weeks left to play in my league on Sunday night.  But the next five weeks I can't play because I was in hospital last week for a major surgery to be done. I do have a sub bowler who can play in my place during my break.  At present time we have dropped to 6th position but we aren't too many points behind number one team.

Decided to resign bowling on Wednesday mornings as my finances wasn't getting the better of me.  I was hoping next year will be a better year as I have afew plans up my sleeve. I wouldn't say what they are incase these plans don't work out.  It's been the main issue for the past 3 years.  I plan on doing something but something always came up.

Monique's bowling for season two seems to be going okay.  She doesn't seem to say alot but I have heard she has been stirring up trouble at the bowling alley.  She has been suspended for one round of tournament play in one organisation as she taken a tandy when the game wasn't going her way.  She isn't the only player who intends to take the game abit too serious. It's suppose to be fun and enjoyable! Of course you won't play well if you are too stress out for playing the way you don't want.

Junior league

My bowling hasn't been great for the past month, due to having other things on my mind.  But at least we are still in the top five position. 

But after a four month break from bowling on Wednesdays, the social league resumed back last week.  I was lucky to bowl just over average in both games but it wasn't enough to win any points.

Monique's league on Saturday morning has completed season one.  They had their prize presentation on last Saturday at around lunchtime. 

Her team came 1st!!  Other team placement includes:  3rd for High HCP game and high pinfall.  Also 2nd for High Series Scratch. Individually she came 1st for high game scratch (236) and high pinfall with HCP (10 675).

State of Origin 1

The first round of State or Origin was played last night. Normally I would give thumbs up for QLD but I had this gut feeling NSW was going to win the first round.  Which of course I was right.  NSW won 14-6 against QLD. 

It wasn't the winning team that disappointed me, it was the way the game was played.  To top it off a school boy bullying incident was happening during the game.  The guy who started the fight should of been sent off and don't continue to play for the rest of the season.

Ove time there are other inappropriate behaviour from afew footy celebrities been heard on tV as well.  Seriously they should be banned on playing further seasons. If any footy boys break the law they should be penalised the same way a normal person does wrong. 

The problem in today's society, our future generations see this rubbish behaviour on TV and they think it's okay to be bulling either at school or through social media. I understand the schools are trying to stop this poor behaviour but I feel the adults on TV are the ones who should stop.  You aren't any better then any normal person, so stop it!! Grow up and start acting your true age for once. And be a good role model for our children of the future.

Sporting Season is on

It's been two months since my league play on Sunday night started in January.  And finally after afew wins my team moved back up on the chart to 3rd now.  But no other female has beaten my 200 game as yet. Who knows! It might be a lucky year for me to be the highest female scratch game for the year.  There is four other ladies are known to bowl an odd 200 game in this league too so the competition is on. 

Most schools will have their annual Cross Country run this term.  Rachel will have her first high school run at the end of this term.  Wish her luck!!

The NRL season starts this week.  This season will end during spring school holidays.  We had our first competition played (and seen live on TV) last night.  We had two teams from New South Wales played in Sydney.  We have a game played in Brisbane tonight...BRONCOS vs MANLY.  Who will win?  A friend and I have friendly played tips on each teams will win each week.  Both of us had the same team picked for win for last night's game.  But there is four teams we picked differently.  We will know by the end of this weekend who is better at picking winners.

 

We already had the start of V8 cars racing and AFL for this year.  I don't follow AFL but I intend to watch abit of motor racing on some Sundays.  They generally race every second weekend on a different track throughout Australia and other parts of the globe.  Last meet was held in Adelaide but I can't remember which driver who won overall for the weekend.  I was too busy making Easter cards at the time to really take noticed on the winner. It's more the kid's father who is really into motor racing.   Probably be the big meet at Bathurst is the one I intend to watch more of.  Only because I have driven on that road myself.

Highest game

Finally got my star of the week reward last night from my 223 game, two weeks ago. Also other players got their rewards up to date as the centre was abit behind issuing the weekly certificates for over average games for the past couple of weeks.  My team mate was the star of the week last night for the previous week.  But both of us didn't bowled average last night and didn't win any points. Guess that means our 2nd placing is now gone as the ones behind us might of bowled better and move up the chart. 

 

As the league has been bowling for five weeks now, we currently are in 5th position.  It was a wonderful feeling to be in second place for a month but after an all points lost game last night we dropped three places.  Anything can happen in the next 40 weeks which I am sure our team placements will either continuing to drop or increase up or remain at the same level all year.  But it would be nice to be in the top 5 by the end of this season.

 

On a good note our team is in top position for a high game scratch but I don't think that dream will last for long by the end of the season.  I am sure some other team will beat us by then.  But no other female has got a 200 game yet.  I am the highest 200 game female so far!! Seriously I wasn't even expecting to get a high game so early in the season. It probably be the only 200 game I will bowl all year.

 

A new team was introduced last night which means the lane schedule draw will change again.  At the end of the league play, we found out we are playing against the same team we played against last night.  It will be interesting to see how we go again as both us and the other team bowled under average last night. 

New Season Commenced

After a six week break, our bowling league resume for a new season of play last night.  I still have the same team mate but we changed our team name.  We played against my best buddies (who I have known for 12 years) but we won all the points. What a great start to the year!! 

I just checked the standing sheet online and we are currently in 2nd place. If we continue to win most points every week, we should be able to stay in the top 5.  Also checked to see who the star of the weeks will be.  I knew who the male would be as I heard he bowled two 200 games last night.  As for the female I was quite surprised to discover it was me. I did bowl a good game but another female bowled six more pins scratch then I did.  The main reason I will get the reward because my average is lower then hers.

I know this is very early in the year and it will change many times before the season ends in November but at current moment of joy, our team has the highest series with HCP.  I have the high game with HCP and my team mate has the highest series scratch (481).

My team mate's bowling ball started to show a huge crack in the middle.  Surprise the ball didn't split in half while the ball was rolling down the lane last night.  I guess a new ball will be on her shopping list very soon. 

Three new members joining our league too!  But it will be interesting to know if they will stay for the whole season as we have new members come and go last year.
