Its now into the seventh week since I joined the new league to play on Sunday night at a different centre. Its a very fast paced league! Even through we are a singles league, we play like a doubles team. Most weeks we are finished within an hour. Not like the other league I was at, where they take up to 90 minutes to bowl three games in a doubles league. I now laugh when I think the old league has top bowlers and plays serious competition. How many of those people bowled a 300 game or even enter tournaments? NONE!! I actually met a high average bowler in this league who has bowled 20 plus of perfect 300 games. Its only a dream of mine to bowl one 200 game. My 17 yo daughter has bowled it once a couple of years ago.
I have made afew new friends at bowling as well as on Facebook. This league has a chat group on Facebook which mostly talks about bowling league and tournaments. Afew of our league players enter afew tournaments on the weekends. I was asked to do my first one at the centre in early March. Its a four man team to bowl four games. Probably end the games within 2 hours and lunch will be provided afterwards. It has been donkey years since I last played serious in a tournament. Wish me luck!!
It has been a challenge to play against high average bowlers this year. Only one week I manage to win all the scratch and HCP points. Other weeks has only been afew HCP points mostly with an odd scratch point win here and there. Last week I bowled good games over average. Only missed a 500 series by nine pins!! When I check on our standing sheet I am surprise I am currently 1st for a high series with HCP. But I am sure that will change by the time the league ends in December.
To all readers who play sport, best of luck for a good year of playing and commitment.

Season over
After all the so call drama in semester two, my team stayed in the league until the season ended in late November.
We had our break up party in late November at the same venue as always. I wasn't really impress with the buffet this time but I was very happy to come home with more prizes then predicted. Our team came 4th overall. Also our team came 1st for high series scratch. I came 3rd for high series with HCP and my team mate came 1st for high game scratch (278). Also she got a league trophy for the highest pinfall bowler of the year.
While the soap opera was going on I decided to goggle for a different league to join in 2016. I found a new singles league at Aspley centre which the committee member invited to attend before their league ended in early December. After my league finished I joined to play in the new league socially for three weeks. My bf joined me to play in a fun no tap tournament on the second week. The new league even invited us to attend to their break up part at one of the player's home. It was a pool party but most of us didn't go swimming because it was a wet stormy night! The party ended after 10pm and I heard there is discussion about a social pool party or movie night to happen before the summer ends next year.
Over the summer break I was told afew players will intend to play socially still until the league resumes on 17th January. I didn't go last week as I needed a break but I do plan on going tonight as I have been home most of this weekend.

Poor Sportsmanship
Sadly I am still in the same league on Sunday night but I should of quit after my old team mate ditched me on the first night in January. The league hasn't been the same at all this year!! There has been times I asked a sub to bowl for myself or my daughter and the league didn't like it because our sub bowler is a high average bowler. They feel threaten to be beaten by someone else!! There has been a lot of bitching and back stabbing going on about my team's performance to the sporting committee members. No one didn't come to us about the ordeal did they?? We had to learn the hard way!! I wasn't there on Sunday night but I heard there was a meeting that didn't go well according to plan. I don't even know if I will be able to continue to play in this league now but I have heard a new league will start at a different centre after the school holidays. I need a new change of environment as I am getting bored of being at the same centre every week. To be honest I am more tired of the immature behaviour of league bowlers. This league was supposedly be a fun social league but most players it's becoming too competitive for others!!

My updates
It's now past half way into my bowling season on Sunday nights.
I had my moments but only in the last two weeks I finally started to be the old me playing again. I had bowled all games over average, my team won all the points and finally starting to go up the ladder. If we continue to all the points each week I will do greater.
I love my Sundays to be there to see my friends and have fun playing my favourite sport each week. Afterwards I have dinner with a couple of friends near the bowling alley.
On recent school holidays I had a social game with my daughter. It was quite a busy day with many lanes filled with social bowlers of all ages. The last time we had a social game was on Mother's Day but at a different centre.

New season
A new season had started in early January and the league will be played for 45 weeks. I now have a new team partner and three new teams were introduced. So far the league is going well. My team started well but slowly going down the chart again. Yes...I know the season is way too early to predict on where we will be by the end of this season.
I haven't bowled any 200 games but at least my games have been over average on most nights.
My team mate couldn't play for a month because of her injury. Also I injured my wrist while I was playing two weeks ago. Now I have to wear a wrist guard while playing.
As far as I know Monique stopped playing in junior leagues. She bowls twice a week in adult leagues with her boyfriend on Friday night and Sunday mornings. I only seen her once played on Friday night.

Junior League
It's been three weeks since I last bowled in my league. And yes! I am starting to miss my Sunday night activity. Well....its only another three weeks or so before the league resumes back to play again. I have heard through the grapevine there was a social outing on last weekend. I wanted to go but I wasn't really informed on the full details on where to meet up at the first venue. Besides I had something else held on the same day.
As far as I know all Junior leagues should be finished by now. My 15 yo had her break up and prize presentation for her Saturday morning league on the weekend. It seems she done better then I did which is no surprise really. Her team (of three players) came 1st/10 teams. Also her team came 1st for high game scratch and high series with HCP. And they came 2nd for high game with HCP which is odd really as most adult leagues don't allow prizes for both scratch and HCP of the same game. Oh well! It doesn't matter now as she isn't planning on return to the same league in 2014. For individual placing she came 1st for high game scratch (244) and high pinfall.
Normally new season for Junior leagues resumes back when school starts but because she is thinking of joining a new adult league at the same centre which she seems to have no clue on when the returning date will be. I am guessing it will be around mid-late January like most adult leagues are at most centres. I just inform her she got to learn to get all the information required when you start something new. No one will tell you anything afterwards because they just assume you knew beforehand, That is one thing I noticed in this society, lack of communication! But I won't go there as it isn't related to this blog posting.
If you have any break up parties for sport, enjoy your event and well done in your achievements (if you got any rewards). And remember...... don't drink and drive!! Have a responsible person to drive you home or stay the night at a motel near the event.

Prize Presentaion
Our end of the year break up party and prize presentation was held on Saturday night at a sports club. From 7pm to 11pm it was a good night in the function room. We had a two course dinner, prize presentation and two guys, Robbie and Tony from Wickety Wak as our entertainment for the night. Apparently Robbie and Tony are friends with a couple of league bowlers which explains why they were at this venue at a friend's rate.
I wasn't really impress with dinner this time. Some other bowlers more said the same thing: the meat was uncooked and tough to eat. I went more for the chicken because it was the only meat that looked more respectful to consume. Salad was the only choice to eat with the meat!! It would of been nice to see more vegetables this time. For dessert we had only two choices: a mini pavlova with barely no fruit on it or a slice of mud cake.
But the highlight of all was the prize presentation. Alot of newcomers seem to had the luck with the prizes this year. As I said in previous post, my team did come 7th overall. Also we came 1st for high game with handicap which I have no clue when that was done during the year. I received an extra envelope for having the high game scratch which I do know when that happened. It was the only 200 game I bowled all season.
Now its time for a six week break. Didn't really affected me last night but I think it will next week as I have got used to my Sunday night routine.
